- If the media changes to unusual colors (e.g. red,brown, black, or other staining), it usually means fouling or damage from contaminants. In this case, the media must be replaced.
- High copper in water may cause the granules to appear light blue. This indicates copper interference and may reduce performance. Check water chemistry before replacement.
- High iron in water may cause the granules to appear light red or light brown. This indicates iron interference and may reduce performance. Check water chemistry before replacement.
